Four sent off after injury-time melee

FOUR players were red-carded and one club official removed from the field as the Ulster Club Minor Football Championship quarter-final, between Castleblayney Faughs and Donagh St Patrick's, was marred by a sudden melee.

Monaghan club Castleblayney Faughs defeated their Fermanagh opponents 1-15 to 2-8.

But the game's talking point was the incident in second-half injury-time. The initial flare-up off the ball was not seen by referee Marty McErlane. However, he took stern action when order was restored.

He removed a Castleblayney official from the field and sent off 'Blayney's Kevin McNally and David McMahon, plus Donagh's Matthew McGrade and John Paul O'Reilly.

It is possible others will be sanctioned when the video is reviewed.
