Doonan shines for Flannan's

St Flannan's 5-8
Clonmel HS 1-5

CATHAL Doonan hit 3-2 as St Flannan's booked their place in the quarter-finals at the expense of Clonmel High School at Seán Treacy Park in Tipperary Town yesterday .

St Flannan's played some lovely football and a first half hat-trick from Doonan helped the Ennis team into a comfortable lead of 4-4 to 0-2 by half-time.

Clonmel featured four Tipperary minors in their ranks, but their misery was compounded by a straight red card which was shown to centre-back Adrian Maguire with 15 minutes remaining.

The St Flannan's goal glut began with just 20 seconds on the watch, when Luke Brannock pounced from close range, before Doonan raised green flags in the sixth, 17th and 27th minutes.

Clonmel hit back with a mini-revival after half-time, scoring 1-2 without reply including an Aidan McGrath goal, but Flannan's were never troubled and Tony Kelly added a fifth goal three minutes from the end.
