Destined for the top
Proof, if any was needed, that the younger you start them, the better.
The full-forward on the Clare minor team yesterday, Niall Arthur, was destined for the big stage from a young age. He was a skills winner at the Feile four years ago and landed a couple of points as Clare almost pulled off a major shock.
Arthur's marker, Willie Phelan, remarkably lasted the entire game despite carrying a broken collarbone. Phelan missed last year's All Ireland final defeat to Galway through injury but made amends yesterday in a side that manager Richie Mulrooney described as one of the best minor teams to come out of the county.
