Creedon insists promotion still possible
TIPPERARY manager Peter Creedon has set his team a target of 10 points and promotion. To achieve that, Tipp will have to win their remaining four matches, but Creedon believes his side are not out of the hunt yet.
Tipp collected their first league points of the season with a nervy victory over London in Thurles.
Just 251 spectators were present at Semple Stadium as Conor Sweeney and George Hannigan scored the crucial goals for the hosts.
Creedon brings his team to Clare for the next game, but remains upbeat.
He said: "If we can go down and get a good performance against Clare, anything can happen. Wicklow lost the first two games last year and got promoted. If we get 10 points, we have a great chance."
London manager Paul Coggins was unhappy with their display. He reflected: "We're very disappointed. The lads put in a better performance in the second half, but we're working too hard to give an overall display like that."
Tipp led by 1-6 to 0-3 at half-time. Sweeney scored Tipp's first goal in the 29th minute, slotting home after Hannigan picked him out with a superb pass. And it was Hannigan who made the game safe in stoppage time as he palmed home Hugh Coghlan's delivery from close range.
That goal settled Tipp's nerves after Padraig McGoldrick had cut the gap to three points when he scored a 69th-minute penalty for the Exiles.
