Leitrim's Donal Wrynn gets to the high ball ahead of Roscommon's Thomas Corcoran

These are encouraging times for Roscommon, who claimed a third provincial title at this level in four years at Carrick-on-Shannon.

Roscommon took control early and were able to deal with the controversial black carding of star forward Donie Smith in the ninth minute. By that stage they had five points from Mark Nally, Enda Smith (two), and Smith.

Leitrim were spirited as Alan McLoughlin smashed a delightful goal at the end of the first quarter, but Roscommon went in 0-11 to 1-2 ahead at the break. After the restart Leitrim were merely operating in damage limitation mode as Enda Smith continued to impress for Roscommon.

The Rossies will face the winners of Wednesday's Munster decider between Cork and Tipperary in the All-Ireland semi-final on April 19.
