Clarke the Leitrim hero


Leitrim registered their first league victory in seven years over neighbours Longford by the narrowest of margins in a dull affair at Pairc Sean Mhic Diarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon, on Saturday.

Both sides struggled to gain the upper in the early stages of the game, but Longford took a 0-8 to 0-6 lead going into the break.

Leitrim scored three points without reply early in the second half to take the advantage for the first time.

Longford quickly restored parity but just four minutes from time, substitute Colin Clarke scored the winning point for Leitrim.
