Carlow goal blitz key
TWO goals in two minutes in the first half proved decisive as Carlow emerged victorious at Dr Cullen Park last night.
Carlow started impressively, leading 0-3 to 0-1 inside five minutes, with two frees from Niall Quinlan and a Chris Blake point as Donal Shanley hit a free for the visitors.
Wexford then hit a purple patch which brought them six unanswered points in a 15-minute spell. Shanley, Kevin O'Connor and Edward O'Byrne were on target to as they led 0-7 to 0-3 on 20 minutes.
When it looked as if Wexford were about to takeover, it was Carlow who responded with two goals in a two-minute spell. The first came from Shane Webb on 21 minutes. Ronan O'Brien found the net from close in two minutes later, as they went on to lead 2-6 to 0-7 at the break.
Carlow extended the lead to 2-9 to 0-7 through Quinlan and Fiach O'Toole, and they controlled matters from there.
