Carbery helps put Palatine to sword
Eire Og 0-15 Palatine 0-5
EIRE Og were crowned champions for the 27th time after they completely outclassed Palatine in a disappointing final at Dr Cullen Park.
This was a trap-to-line win for Eire Og, who were in front from the second minute when their outstanding midfielder Murtagh Ware pointed from play.
Palatine were a major disappointment and unable to match their opponents in any aspect of play.
They had problems all over the field, most notably in attack where none of the starting forwards managed a score from play.
Eire Og built their lead while playing into the wind in the first half -- their pace, teamwork and scoring ability proving too much for Palatine -- who found themselves swamped in possession and with no options in attack -- and they established an unflattering 0-7 to 0-4 interval lead.
Eire Og were content to pick off their points in the second half when aided by the wind, with Bryan Carbery leading the way. Both sides were reduced to 14 men in the final quarter when Alan O'Brien and John Reid were both issued with straight red cards.
