BEN BROSNAN sparkled with two smashing goals as Wexford got off to the most impressive of starts at Wexford Park.
Despite finding it difficult to settle playing with a gale-force first-half wind, they led 1-9 to 0-2 at the interval, with the goal coming from debutant full-forward Kevin O'Grady in injury-time.
When the visitors struck for their opening goal from Tommy Prendergast after 52 minutes, it seemed a revival was on, particularly when Patrick Hurney added a second goal three minutes later, leaving it 2-11 to 2-3.
But Wexford were making better use of possession and they responded with Brosnan's second goal on 62 minutes. Four minutes from the end Ciaran Lyng added a splendid fourth goal.
