Bradley boost for Derry
DERRY have been handed a boost by the news that Paddy Bradley will be part of their McKenna Cup panel for January.
The mercurial Oak Leaf attacker was named among the 26-strong squad released yesterday, despite announcing his intention to retire at the end of the 2010 season. Fellow veterans Kevin McCloy and Enda Muldoon are also included.
Tyrone defender Ciaran Gourley will miss the 2011 National League campaign as he is recovering from knee surgery. Gourley, who missed the 2010 championship due to the injury which was picked up in a club game, believes he will be fit again in March or April.
"I am at the rehab process, playing it by ear and I will see where that takes me," said Gourley. "All I am worried about is making sure that my knee is okay again."
Meanwhile, Tipperary club side Toomevara have secured the services of former Limerick senior hurling selector Ger Cunningham for the 2011 season.
Cunningham has already enjoyed a great deal of success in Tipp club circles and, in 2005, he guided Thurles Sarsfields to a first county SHC success since 1974.
