Banner rue misses

Roscommon 0-16
Clare 1-10

Roscommon capitalised on some poor Clare shooting at Cusack Park, Ennis yesterday to earn two valuable points. Clare recorded 12 wides to the visitors' five, with the Rossies' free-taker Donie Shine in far better form than David Tubridy.

With his side just two points in arrears midway through the second period, the Doonbeg man missed three successive frees, handing back the initiative to a below-par Roscommon side, who were extremely relieved to leave Ennis with a win.

The Connacht side enjoyed a 0-10 to 0-6 advantage at the half-time whistle but a rejuvenated Clare re-emerged and a Gary Brennan goal in the 50th minute saw them trail by 0-12 to 1-8. But subsequent misses proved to be the downfall of the home team.
