Aston leads from front in Laois stroll
Laois 0-14 Carlow 0-5 Leinster MFC
Laois minors eased to victory in a disappointing game played in O'Moore Park on Saturday night.
The home side took control early on and never looked in danger of losing as Carlow only threatened in fits and starts.
Laois had the benefit of a strong wind in the first half, and it didn't take them long to put it to use. After just nine minutes they led 0-5 to 0-1, with three of their starting six defenders getting on the scoresheet.
Carlow were dropping deep, but it made little difference, and Laois poured forward in waves.
David Aston was unlucky to see a shot hit the bar as Laois led by eight at the midpoint of the half.
Carlow finally showed signs of life with two points, but Laois finished the half strongly to lead by seven at the break, 0-11 to 0-4.
Carlow made a bright start to the second half, with Niall Lowry pointing after just a minute, but that was as good as it got.
Laois quickly responded through substitute Eoin Buggy, as he fired over from 30 yards out to end the game as a contest, as the home side ran out nine-point winners.
