A sad time in sport's journalism
IT'S a sad period in the world of sports journalism, which lost three outstanding practitioners in Sean Og O Ceallachain, (formerly RTE and the 'Evening Press') two weeks ago and Sean Diffley (former Irish Independent rugby correspondent) and Paddy Downey (former 'Irish Times' GAA correspondent), who died this week.
Apart from being gifted with numerous talents which enabled them to enjoy hugely successful careers, they were also great characters whose company was always immensely enjoyable.
They all possessed a wonderful passion, knowledge and appreciation of sport, which they conveyed so expertly for many decades. May they rest in peace.
