Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers keen to get into fighting shape as he prepares to make his return to the game

Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to get into fighting shape as he prepares to make his return to the game this summer - and his personal trainer has posted a video to confirm as much.

Rodgers has been out of the game since he was sacked by Liverpool in October and has confirmed that he has turned down opportunities to get back into work over the last few months.

The former Swansea boss has been linked with a move back to the Welsh club and he is also viewed as a contender to take over from England manager Roy Hodgson following the Euro 2016 finals in France.

Rodgers is clearly using his time away form the game to get into shape, with the Irishman showed some decent boxing skills that suggest those who enjoy taunting him on social media better watch their step if they take on this fighting machine!

“Brendan Rodgers putting in that work with me at 6.45am this morning,” stated his trainer Bradley Simmonds as he posted the video on his Instagram account.

“I've been training Brendan for the past 10 weeks now, a brilliant client who I'd happily set my alarm for at 5.30am.

“I beasted Brendan today starting with a 20 minute fast run around his amazing neighbourhood before getting the gloves on. Looking forward to sharing his 12 week transformation in the next couple of weeks as he prepares to get back into football management next season.”

It remains to be seen where Rodgers will next surface, but he is clearly keen to ensure he is nearly as fit as the next set of players he will be working with if the evidence of this boxing video is any gauge.
