Fiona Doyle misses out on World 100m breaststroke final
Ireland's Fiona Doyle has failed in her bid to make the 100metre breaststroke final at the World Championships in Barcelona.
The World University Games silver medallist finished seventh in the first semi-final this evening in a time of 1:07.81 and in eleventh overall.
The 21-year-old Dubliner who studies and trains in Canada had qualified for this evening semi-finals after finishing as the 12th best qualifier from this morning's heats in a time of 1:07.88.
There was drama in the semi-finals as 16 year old Olympic champion Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania set a new world record of 1:04.35.
