Dundalk's Conor Clifford has been given a six-month suspension from all football-related activities for betting offences.

The Football Association of Ireland announced the punishment on Friday, saying the player had admitted a charge of 112 breaches of the English Football Association's Rule E8.

Clifford, 26, committed the offences while playing in England. He spent four years at Chelsea without making a senior appearance before spells with the likes of Plymouth, Yeovil, Notts County, Portsmouth, Crawley, Leicester, Southend, Barnet and Boreham Wood.
