Daire Doyle to take Longford Town reins for FAI Cup tie as Neale Fenn heads to Cork City
Longford Town have confirmed that coach Daire Doyle will take charge of tonight's FAI Cup tie away to Bohemians in place of manager Neale Fenn.
Former Cork City player Fenn is reported to have informed Longford on Thursday that he was leaving the club, where he has been in charge since 2017, to take up a post with Cork.
Longford had not made any official comment on their managerial post but a tweet issued by the club's official account on Friday, less than four hours before kick-off at Dalymount Park, made it clear that Fenn was not in charge.
"Daire Doyle will take charge of first team affairs tonight." the club said on twitter.
John Cotter is effectively first team boss at Cork while Frank Kelleher, who has the required UEFA pro-licence qualification, was named as "first team manager" by the club back in June as interim boss Cotter could only stay in charge for 60 days because he lacked the necessary qualifications.
Cork are expected to unveil Fenn as the addition to their coaching structure after tonight's FAI Cup tie away to Galway United.
