Cavan have claimed their third consecutive Ulster title with a 0-13 to 1-6 win over Donegal at Brewster Park.

Chris Conroy opened the scoring for Cavan with a booming effort from distance and an Enda O'Reilly free and Gerry Smyth score gave Cavan the perfect start.

Darach O'Connor got Donegal off the mark afetr good work from Paddy McBrearty but Paul O'Connor soon cancelled out that effort.

Paddy McBrearty and Willie Gillespie then created chances to level matters but both dragged their shots at goal wide.

After surviving those two goal chances Cavan added further points through Chris Conroy and Enda O'Reilly as they went into a 0-6 to 0-1 lead.

Senior star Paddy McBrearty ended Donegal's wait for their second score as he pointed after being found by Gavin Gallagher.

Cavan pointed from a free before the break to lead 0-7 to 0-2 at the change of ends.

Donegal missed their third goal chance of the night on the retstart when Odhran MacNiallis shot wide.

Jack Brady extended Cavan's lead before Donegal finally scored a goal at the fourth time of asking through Willie Gillespie to reduce the lead to 0-8 to 1-2.

Brady slotted another free and then Chris Conroy added his third of the night as Cavan responded well to the concession of that Gillespie goal

Paddy McBrearty and Brady swapped points before McBrearty added another two points to put two points between the sides.

Brady and Paul Graham eased Cavan back to a four point lead just before the end of normal time and they clung on for another provincial title.
