Bondi Beach breezes to Listed spoils at Limerick

Bondi Beach wins well at Limerick
Bondi Beach wins well at Limerick

Bondi Beach came from last to first to emerge victorious in the Listed 188BET Martin Molony Stakes at Limerick.

Aidan O'Brien's St Leger runner-up never got competitive in the Melbourne Cup when last seen, but was sent off the 6-4 favourite on his first run since that Australian jaunt.

Held up in the rear of the field by Seamie Heffernan, he made eyecatching headway entering the straight and shot to the front a furlong out, keeping on well after that to beat Altesse by two and three-quarter lengths.

Heffernan said: "I was impressed and he won snug. He is a bit stronger and a bit more relaxed this year.

"He could be anything but he is a good stayer."
