Alan Fleming eyeing Douvan rematch with Velvet Maker at Leopardstown

Velvet Maker is likely to have another crack at Douvan in the Frank Ward Solicitors Arkle at Leopardstown on January 24.

Alan Fleming's seven-year-old was put well in his place by Willie Mullins' potential superstar at Christmas, as he was in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham last March.

With a win over fences to his name already, though, options are limited and Fleming is hoping better ground might see him close the gap.

"I was pleased enough with him. He's in the Arkle at Leopardstown and he might have to run as there are no other races for him," said Fleming.

"We'll be hoping the ground dries up a bit, as that will definitely suit him better.

"I would imagine Douvan will turn up again, but what can you do?"
