THE READY BUSINESS PODCAST: Dublin Airport and the future of air travel
On this week’s show, Brian Purcell finds out about the future of air travel and how your experience at Dublin airport is changing. We all have our gripes about queues, security and check-in when flying by plane, but how will technology impact our future travel and what can we expect in these security-conscious times?
With 19,000 people working in Dublin airport it is a mini-city in its own right and Brian spent the day there speaking to the people involved in its day to day operations and those looking to get it ready for the future.
Paul O’Kane is spokesperson of the DAA and he explained how important the airport is to the national economy, while John Seely, Technology Projects Manager has been at the airport since 1973 and seen huge technological changes in the 45 years.
Every year, 30,000 customers are also surveyed by the DAA to find out their experiences at the airport and Louise Bannon Head of Customer Insights explained what people are telling them while Brian Callanan, Security Operations Manager, highlighted the balance needed between increased security and hassle-free travel.
