Wicklow cricket on the rise
Open day at Greystones Cricket Club a big success
As the premier cricket club in Wicklow, Greystones Cricket Club has four children's teams from ages of six to 13 playing cricket in a fun environment.
Training takes place on Saturdays from 9.30am to 11am with games played from now until July.
The club recently held an open day for people to come and have a look at the club and get a feel for the sport and this was a successful event on a beautiful day at the grounds in Druids Glen on Saturday, March 30.
President of Greystones Cricket Club Martin Potts says that cricket has grown hugely in Wicklow over the last 12 months.
'Cricket has grown immensely in the last year and we now have a junior development officer from Leinster Cricket stationed in Greystones,' said Potts.
'To put some context around it we have only ever had one or two teams playing in the schools Leprecaun Cup.
'This year we had eight from Greystones schools area, mixed boys and girls and next year we will have 16 with boys and girls playing separately for the first time,' he added.
