Life's a drag
MALE members of Match Fit Fitness in Wicklow Town completed an exercise class in full drag to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society last Friday evening.
The class was delivered by Match Fit instructor – and former Bray Wanderers player – Gary Dempsey – who, along with other male members of the club, agreed to do a class dolled up to the nines if their female counterparts could raise €500 for the cause through no make-up selfies.
The women of Match Fit Fitness duly obliged, and the men were true to their word as Gary along with Darren Murray, Roy Thurland, Roy Carthy, David McDonald, Freddie and Stephen Quinn, Clifford Murphy, Kyle and Robin Dempsey, Simon Aust, Stu Teehan, Ian Mold, Niall Cull and Rick Johnson dressed up in drag to break a sweat at their Friday evening class in the old De La Salle College.
In so doing, they managed to raise a further €800 for the Irish Cancer Society, taking Match Fit that bit closer to their target of €10,000 for the charity. Gary raised further funds for the cause on Sunday, April 13, when he ran the London Marathon.
