Massive day of boxing for Arklow BC's finest

Fourteen of Arklow's young Juvenile boxers will be in action in Drogheda this Sunday.

The Arklow boxers travel to the Wee county this Sunday to take on the might of well established Holy Family Boxing Club. There are nine under-11 bouts that are test matches (no decision) but that doesn't take away from the efforts with some of the boys having their first ever boxing match.

Liam Molloy takes on Martin Nevin out of Holy Family while Donnacha Murphy is in against David Nevin. Andrey Shapatov boxes Dean Philips with Aaron Mooney trading punches with Mark Carroll. Callum Roache is matched against Karolis Piekias and Sean Byrne takes on David Joyce. Cian Doyle boxes Nelson Mannix and Aidan Fleming will be in action against Ronan Thompson. Kian Flucky is the last of the test matches and boxes Michael Mc Donagh.

Six of Arklow's over 11s will also battle it out. Darragh O'Connor goes up against William Lawrence, Lucas Godkin will battle with Eric Chipper, Damien Abiloga takes on Gerry Nevin, Josh Browne goes toe to toe with James Maguire, Owen Moore meets Liam McCormack and Josh Whitmore squares up to Adam Farrell.

A good performance is expected from all boys having stepped up their training in the past two weeks in preparation and all at Arklow Boxing Club wish them the best of luck.

On Tuesday, December 10, Arklow are holding a club tournament in their gymnasium on Emoclew Road. This tournament is sponsored each year by An Garda Siocana as part of their community involvement. It will involve all age groups and a good nights boxing is guaranteed.

In other news, Santa's yearly visit to the club is fast approaching, A date is yet to be decided and Mrs Clause is checking Santa's very busy schedule and will give us a definite date next week.

And finally, there was great news from Wexford last week when Arklow's Luke Mulhall, having his first ever contest, was victorious in the Wexford League. Well done!
