A number of Wicklow establishments appear on a new online service provided by Good Food Ireland.

The new Good Food Ireland Experiences website allows food lovers to browse experiences by date, destination or simply by the food experience they would like to explore. The site also allows users to book the experience or series of experiences directly and receive immediate confirmation.

Founder of Good Food Ireland, Margaret Jeffares said: 'With Good Food Ireland we seek out those places off the beaten path that people can discover and enjoy. We're encouraging the people of Ireland to experience what is right there on their doorstep. We have worked tirelessly with the best food producers and chefs in Ireland to carefully develop, inspect and bring to market food experiences which are now available on one platform, easily searched and navigated by various criteria. We realise that more and more Irish people care where their food comes from, not just for the local economic benefit, but because it tastes so much better.'

One unique experience suggested by the new website is The Wonderful World of Mushrooms Forage, Cook and Eat with Bill O' Dea in Kilruddery at €65 per person. Bill and his wife Freda will take participants to beautiful woodlands where they will find, pick and identify mushrooms and then take part in cooking and tasting their edible findings. Some 50 different types may be identified depending on the season and this incredible woodland experience offers an opportunity to discover and delve into the world of mushrooms.

Other Wicklow establishments approved by Good Food Ireland include Brooklodge and Macreddin Village Hotel, Chakra by Jaipur Restaurant in Greystones, Donnybrook Fair Gourmet Food and Drink Shop in Greystones, Janet's Country Fayre Chutney and Relish Maker and Shop in Kilcoole and Tiffin by Sunil Indian Takeaway in Greystones.
