Wicklow and Montigny choirs in gala concert

Wicklow and District Lions Club presented a wonderful gala Concert on Saturday evening last featuring Wicklow Male Voice Choir and a visiting choir from the twinning town of Montigny in France.

The concert was held in Fatima Hall, Dominican College Wicklow and the night consisted of a beautiful selection of choral music performed by both choirs

Musical Directors were Cecile Verdeaux and Martine Guedel from France and Anthony Norton from Wicklow.

Compère for the evening was Tony Lyons with full support from members of the local Lions Club looking after the front of house raffle.

Lions President Pat O'Brien and Andy Bolger from the local choir welcomed the visitors to Wicklow and the twinning committee for their ongoing help and support.

Andy also thanked the audience for coming out in such numbers and the Lions Club for organising the event, commenting on the strong connection Wicklow Choir and the Lions Club have build up together over the years.

Presentations were made to both choirs at the end of the evening and all the proceeds form the concert will got to Wicklow Cancer Support.

The next major event organised by Wicklow Lions will be the annual Golf Classic this coming Friday, June 7 in Blainroe Golf Club.
