Vartry rowers bring home five All-Ireland medals
Vartry Rowing Club tasted success at the 2019 All-Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships held in Dingle, Co Kerry after landing a number of silver and bronze medals.
The weather conditions were far from ideal, with strong winds and heavy rain making for testing conditions on the water, with no room for error.
Twenty rowers from the Vartry Club took to the water in what proved to be an extremely competitive championship.
The Vartry Rowing Club senior men won a silver medal, finishing just behind Myross. The intermediate men won silver as well, while the intermediate men finished third to win a bronze medal. The Vartry Club also won silver in the men's masters and bronze in the men's sprints.
The club's next big competition will be the Great River Race in London, which annually attracts over 300 crews from all over the world and they race along the Thames.
The club remains on the hunt for a permanent home to store their equipment. Anyone with suggestions of possible premises can contact any member of Vartry Rowing Club.
