Town Team to address meeting

Myles Buchanan

Dave Shannon from Wicklow Town Team will address the elected members of Wicklow Municipal District during their next monthly meeting at the end of June.

The Town Team was formed to try and maximise Wicklow town's business, tourism and social potential. The volunteer team aims to capitalise on the unique selling points identified in the 'Time to Kickstart Wicklow Town' report created by The Local Economic Initiative Group.

Wicklow Municipal District members sits on each of the committees which form the Town Team, ranging from a Greenway Committee to one on Historic Town Status/Heritage Site.

Speaking at May's Municipal District meeting, cathaoirleach Cllr Shay Cullen provided a brief update on the progress taking place.

'Currently pricing is being carried out to back-light the main and most historic buildings in the town. There are also plans for a greenway at the Murrough. Talks have been held with Ministers and are progressing well. There is also a public realm plan and historic walks. The Town Team really is doing great work,' said Cllr Cullen.

The Town Team is currently looking for members of the public to carry out a short online consumer survey which should take just five minutes to complete.

Answers are confidential and fully anonymous, unless participants opt to enter a competition to win one of ten €50 Wicklow town vouchers to spend locally.

The survey, which is being conducted by iReach Data Insights, remains open until Friday, June 9, and can be found at https://mipro.li/d9Y4Pkf.
