Thieves target three cars at the Murrough
Gardai believe that three incidents of thefts from cars at the Murrough on the same day are all linked.
Two of the thefts occurred at the recycling centre located at the popular coastal spot.
On Tuesday, May 8, a woman using the facilities at the centre returned to her vehicle to find that her handbag had been stolen. No damage had been caused to the car. The handbag contained a large sum of money, as well as a phone, personal documents and credit cards. The theft occurred at around 9.30 a.m. in the morning.
Gardaí arrived at the scene to examine CCTV footage when it was discovered that a second car had also been illegally entered. Another woman who had been present at the recycling centre at the same time as the first incident, had returned home to find that her purse had been stolen.
Later that afternoon, the owner of a car parked further along the Murrough had a wallet stolen from inside the vehicle. The owner had gone for a walk between noon and 1 p.m. and only discovered the wallet was missing after returning to the vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry.
