Tanya to take to skies for Pieta
Rathnew woman hosted make-up masterclass in memory of late father
A go-ahead Rathnew woman who lost her father to suicide a decade ago has channelled her considerable energy into two fundraising events for Pieta, a make-up masterclass and a sky dive - raising around €2,000.
Around 50 people attended the make-up masterclass at St Brigid's Hall where the former make-up salon owner gave expert tips and advice to attendees. Two speakers from Pieta House addressed the crowd about the vital work Pieta House does to help people with suicidal ideation in the county.
Tanya-Rachel O'Donovan said: 'It went really well. We did a raffle and made money through ticket sales. I set up a GoFundMe page and a local woman donated €400 so I'm close to €2,000 now which was my target.'
She is doing a skydive in Kilkenny this Saturday with a crowd of gym members she knows from Leixlip.
Tanya lost her father Timmy to suicide a decade ago. Ever since she has raised money every chance she got for Pieta House, including by doing Darkness Into Light walks every year.
'Any opportunity I get to raise money for mental health charities like Pieta House I do because of the experience I had. I struggled with my own mental health last year, so I just want to try and get people to open up about things and raise awareness.'
