Student injures leg walking in Glendalough

The 26th mountain rescue callout of the year in Wicklow involved a student who suffered a leg injury while walking in Glendalough.

The Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were tasked by An Garda Síochána to come to the aid of a group of French and Irish students who were out walking when one of them sustained a lower leg injury.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 26, with the alert raised just before 3 p.m.. Mountain rescue personal, along with National Parks staff, treated the injured person and transported them back to the Upper Lake carpark where the group's vehicles were parked. They were then able to make their own arrangements to seek further medical care. The operation was stood down at 4.30 p.m.
