Showcase night for film project works
Several productions were premièred in Glenealy Village Hall as students showcased their considerable talents as part of the Glenealy Film Project.
The screenings were produced by the students of this pilot project which was designed to introduce digital film production to participants interested in employment in the burgeoning film sector in Wicklow.
Premièring at the Event were several successful productions including the short film 'ALONE' a stunning, dark drama about a young soldier's experiences during World War 2.
The screening of 'Jo's Vintage Kitchen' then took centre stage - a TV style program followed by the screening of the students' short films.
The students were also present to answer any questions event goers put to them.
Mark Hetherington received first prize from tutor Kevin Smith of The New Media Institute for his short film 'Disintegration'. This is a unique production about homelessness filmed in reverse order.
A major component of the Glenealy Film Project's mission is to expand and engage students in visual storytelling and production.
This Project is an extension of a collaboration of Glenealy IT Centre, The New Media Institute and the partners and funders DEASP and CWP (SICAP).
It has been designed both to provide students with access to film-making while gaining QQI Accreditation in several modules at Level 4.
