Sean Olohan is the new president of Wicklow and District Lions
Wicklow and District Lions Club held its bi-annual handover night in Tinakilly Country House Hotel last Saturday .
Pat O'Brien, who had been president for the past two years, handed over the official Lions chain of office to Sean Olohan at the special ceremony.
In his acceptance speech Sean thanked Pat for his huge input into Wicklow Lions and commented on how they had both worked together so very successfully on many projects. He emphasised that it's always a team effort in the Lions and he will depend on the support of every member during his term as president.
Sean also said he was extremely honoured when presented with the beautiful chain and would wear it with great pride during his term as president .
It was one of the biggest attended handover events ever for the Wicklow town based service club. Lion Joe Kirwin received great praise and thanks for organising the event and Tinakilly management and staff were also thanked for their help and support
All Ireland Lions District Governor Frank O'Donoghue travelled from Dublin. International Lions Director Teresa Dineen came all the way from Cork.
There was also great support from other Lions Clubs, in particular Bray and Sugarloaf, which was represented by president Rosemary Lambe. There was really big support from Pat and Sean's families which they both appreciated very much. Lions President Sean will start his new term from September when the Lions motto 'We Serve' will be very evident as it has been in the Wicklow Club for the past 33 years.
Sean's most urgent project will be as musician and composer. This coming weekend he will travel to Milan with his wife Jackie to perform his very popular song 'Sing with the Lions' at the Lions World Convention in front of an audience of 10,000 in the Italian convention centre.
Sean was commissioned to compose this song for the Lions World President.
It was launched in Las Vegas a year ago and he was invited to Milan as a result of the song's popularity worldwide.
The song 'Sing with the Lions' is available on YouTube.
