Packed schedule for Arklow's Seabreeze Festival

More details have been revealed about the annual Seabreeze Festival which takes place in Arklow later this month.

The Seabreeze Princess Competition ,sponsored by Bridgewater Shopping Centre, officially launches on Sunday, July 7 from 8 p.m. in the Midway bar on Main Street. Entries are still open. Only women aged 18 or older are eligible to apply. There are €1,000 in vouchers, sponsored by Bridgewater Shopping Centre, up for grabs. Swinging Pubs starts on Friday, July 12 at John Joes, though earlier dates may yet be announced. The annual music and entertainment competition will be staged in pubs around the town with the winners announced on Thursday, July 18 at the Bridge Hotel.

On Friday, July 19, the Tradewinds burger eating competition will be held. There will be a carnival with music, fun and games in the park. The AGB Festival of Football takes place in Pearse Park on Saturday, July 20. The day also feature the international marching bands and drums corps competition, the Dainty Bakery baby show, a busking competition, Pound demo with Ais and a pint challenge. Wise Guys will entertain crowds on the top stage with Finch performing on the middle stage and After Hours on the bottom stage.

Sunday, July 21 will see the Main Street closed to traffic from 1 p.m. as an artisan food and craft fair takes place. There will be a pipeband competition, the McDonalds teddy bears picnic, wrestling, the famous pig derby, Midway chili madness, the great ball race and a performance by Wicklow Minors Comhaltas. Abbaesque will perform on the top stage with Deja Vue on the middle stage and Navvies on the bottom stage. The Seabreeze Festival will close with a fireworks display at 11 p.m.
