Rathdrum Community First Responders were recently presented with a cheque for €834 from Myles Doyle of the Avoca Recycling Centre.

The funds were raised through the sale of scrap metal by the team at the Avoca Recycling Centre and were used to buy hi-viz winter jackets and vital equipment for the volunteers.

Ger O'Dea, the newly appointed National Ambulance Service Community Engagement Officer for North Leinster, attended the cheque presentation. Macarton Hughes, Head of Education and Competency Assurance, also attended the event. Rathdrum CFR extended special thanks to him for his help and advice.

Rathdrum CFR members also expressed their gratitude to Wicklow County Council for its co-operation and support. They thanked all those in the community who have supported the team throughout the year.

Rathdrum CFR has responded to over 60 callouts since going live in April 2018. The team of seven active responders cover an area of a 5 km radius from Rathdrum's Market Square.

New recruits for the vital community service are welcome with training and equipment provided. Donations and fundraising support is also appreciated and volunteers can join the team as a fundraiser/supporter.
