Shoppers in Carnew are in for a treat over the next few weeks with the arrival of a new pop up shop.

Situated in the old Finesse Boutique beside Centra on the Main Street, the shop opened its doors on Tuesday, August 13 and has already proved to be a hit.

All proceeds from the venture are going to the Hollywood comes to Askamore for the Forrest Gump Group, a fundraiser for Ballyellis NS and Askamore Community Centre.

'It's doing very well, we hope to be open for a number of weeks,' said Breda Byrne, who is part of the Forrest Gump Group.

The shop is selling a variety of goods including clothes, jewellery, glassware, toys, books, art and kitchenware. Opening hours vary and are written on the door. Donations of items for the shop are also welcome. There is a separate raffle with hampers up for grabs which include crystal, wine and other luxury items. Tickets are available to buy in the pop up shop and at other shops in Carnew.

Meanwhile, preparations are well underway for the Hollywood comes to Askamore event on October 26 in the Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey. There will be 15-minute films shown based on scenes from TV and film favourites including Waking Ned, The Field, Derry Girls and Father Ted. The night will also feature the golden awards where prizes including best actor and actress will be announced. Tickets for the glamorous evening will be available shortly from the cast and committee members.
