Maureen lands title of Ireland's best home cook
A home cook from Wicklow town has been crowned Ireland's best cook and can now look forward to a €3,000 trip to Paris.
Maureen Griffin was among the eleven finalists shortlisted for the Le Crunch French Apples National Final held at Cooks Academy in Dublin, following a lengthy process involving hundreds of recipes submitted to the competition using Le Crunch French Apples as a main ingredient.
The final yielded some imaginative dishes from savoury quiches and curries to tasty deserts, but Maureen's toffee apple crunch cake selected as the overall winner by chef Adrian Martin and his fellow judges.
The eleven finalists from around the country worked hard over ninety minutes to provide an original dish to wow the judges.
'I am just so delighted I won. It was an amazing experience and one I can tick off my bucket list,' said Maureen. 'I can't wait to tick another thing off my bucket list with the amazing trip to Paris, a huge thanks to Le Crunch French Apples for this opportunity.'
