Lots of laughs at a wedding' to remember

The society Wedding of the Year took place recently in Blessington as Britnee Ravin and the right honourable Earl of Hempstown George C. Looney tied the knot.Of course if you haven't noticed already by the slightly strange names of the bride and groom, this was definitely a wedding with a difference.

The society Wedding of the Year took place recently in Blessington as Britnee Ravin and the right honourable Earl of Hempstown George C. Looney tied the knot.

Of course if you haven't noticed already by the slightly strange names of the bride and groom, this was definitely a wedding with a difference.

The hilarious fundraising event was in aid of the new Blessington and District Forum Theatre, and the theatre was the venue for the mock wedding organised by Kranc and Franc.

The Druid of Glending officiated the wedding ceremony, which included the Gathering Rite, a few Reflections, the Rite of Bondage, the Exchange of Bands, Pleadings of the Feckless and the Signing of the Legal Document.

Bride and Groom were then chauffeured to the Avon Ri by Tony Clarke in Pat Denning's regal Rolls Royce, previously owned by none other than the Duchess of Westminster.

The 160 wedding guests also made their way to Avon Ri for a slap up meal from a menu featuring different areas represented by the Blessington and District Forum. They then proceeded to dance the night away with music from the Swing Cats.

The Blessington and District Forum hope to fit out the theatre with stage rigging, drapes, a lighting system, a sound system, control room technology and additional seating at a cost of around ?200,000.
