Green light for Main Street apartments
Mall Centre set to accommodate six dwellings
Permission has been granted to convert part of the Mall Centre in Wicklow town into six apartments.
Cumclone Construction,c/0 McAulay Rice Architects, Green Tree House, Fitzwilliam Square, Wicklow town lodged the planning application with Wicklow County Council in March of this year seeking alterations and extensions to the existing building which is located on Wicklow town's Main Street.
The planned works include amendments to ground floor unit to allow for new storage and relocation of ancillary spaces from first floor to ground floor in existing restaurant and addition of bin store on ground floor for proposed apartments. This will include an additional door to front elevation and the conversion of existing c 362sqm first floor offices to accommodate a 60sqm one bed apartment with 10 sqm balcony, a 87sqm two bed apartment with 10.9sqm external balcony, a 128sqm three bed apartment with 11.2sqm external balcony, conversion of c.132sqm existing studio to accommodate 85sqm two bed apartment with 11.2sqm external balcony, a 122sqm three bed apartment with 18.4m2 external balcony, a 98.4sqm extension to second floor to provide for the apartment accommodation on second floor and the provision of 40sqm of external communal space on the second floor.
The works will also include alterations to internal layouts and external elevations and all associated site works .
Wicklow County Council has imposed a number of conditions on the granted application, including that works can only be carried out between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday to Fridays, and between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays and not at all on Sundays or public holidays. Deviation from these times will only be allowed in exceptional circumstances where prior written approval has been received from the Planning Authority.
