The Fionnuala McCormack 10K and Kilomarathon fundraiser for Wicklow Hospice held on Saturday started and finished at the Beehive.

It was the third year running for the event to take place, with medals presented to all finishers and T shirt for the first 250 over the finishing line.

Brian O'Kelly was the winner of the male 10k. Tomás O'Dowd was second and Dominic Horan finished third.

The winning 10k lady was Mary Kennedy. Finishing second was Sheelagh Jones, with Aoibhe McCarthy finishing third.

Robert Frewen won the kilomarathon male section. Darren Cullen finished second, followed closely behind by third placed Paul O'Brien.

The female section was won by Lucy O'Malley, followed by Aisling Kirwan in second place and third placed Anna Gleeson.

Wicklow Hospice offers gratitude to Michael Richardson of the local Civil Defence and to the volunteers who stewarded and marshalled along the route. Thanks are also passed on to the Road Policing Unit of An Garda Síochána, who were on duty and assisted on the day, and Wicklow Local Partnership, who sponsored the water.

The next fundraising running event will take place on Saturday, November 9. This will be a Remembrance Run and will start and finish in the grounds of Wicklow Hospice at Magheramore.
