The streets of Wicklow were brimming with festive cheer on Saturday as hundreds of locals congregated in the town centre for the annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony and visit from Santa Claus.

The atmosphere was electric as the town centre became bathed in twinkling fairy lights with the flick of a switch. There was plenty of excitement from the children of Wicklow to see Santa Claus and his elf in person and share what they have included on their Christmas lists.

The Santa parade kicked off at Market Square and wound its way down Wicklow's Main Street as throngs of people gathered on the pavement to try and get a glimpse of Mr Claus. Upon his arrival at Fitzwilliam Square, Santa was able to share with everyone that no local girl or boy had been included on this year's naughty list.

Then the moment everyone was waiting for arrived, as Santa flicked the switch to illuminate the whole town with festive Christmas lighting.

There were also special performances from Wicklow Pipe Band, Wicklow Community Choir and Robert Vickers.
