A section of the Coolgreaney Road in Arklow was closed for a time on Sunday when a car crashed into a house opposite St Saviour's Church.

The incident took place shortly after 2.30am and the road was closed while emergency services attended the scene.

The driver of the car was the only occupant became trapped in the vehicle and was cut free by the Fire Service and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Fire Service crews from Arklow and Wicklow attended the scene.

A number of residents from the area, including the occupant of the house, were woken by the incident and gathered at the scene.
