The annual commemoration will take place on November 19.
The annual commemoration will take place on November 19.

The lives of the Wicklow war dead will be remembered at the annual Armistice Day commemoration event at the Woodenbridge World War 1 Memorial Park on Sunday, November 19 at 2 p.m.

The commemoration will include an address by Prof Eunan O'Halpín, Professor of Contemporary Irish History at Trinity College Dublin.

Refreshments will be served afterwards in the Woodenbridge Hotel.

The event has been organised by the memorial park committee and has taken place annually since the park was officially opened.

Each of the Wicklow soldiers, from all parts of the county who lost their lives at war are documented in a listing compiled by local historian and committee member Pat Power.

Also as it is the centenary of the Kynock factory explosion of 1917 in which 27 lives were lost, these deceased are also documented in the booklet and will be remembered on November 19.

All are welcome to attend this free event.
