A former beachside hotel outside Arklow has come to the market with a guide price of €500,000. Known as the Clogga Bay Hotel, the premises finished trading approximately a decade ago and comes to the market in good structural shape but in need of significant renovations to modernise it.
Before its closure, the hotel, which boasts an outdoor swimming pool and private pedestrian access to Clogga beach, was a popular social hub for the Arklow community and played host to many dances, fundraisers and family events. The single storey property spans 11,100 sq ft across a 2.35 acre site and also comprises a three-bed owner/manager's residence, function room, lobby area, dining room, kitchen and lounge/bar. There is also a large tarmac car park to the front.
Agent for the sale Dolores Somers of DNG Somers, Arklow, said that the building would lend itself to 'hotel, hostel, residential, holiday home, nursing home, health care or other uses subject to planning permission'.
'The big attraction of the property is its proximity to the beautiful sandy Clogga Strand. The hotel has direct private pedestrian access to this which makes it a unique location,' she said.
