RTÉ'S Claire Byrne is in self-isolation at her Bray home amid fears she could have contracted the coronavirus.
The journalist hosted her Monday night television programme 'Claire Byrne Live' from her garden shed, telling viewers she had the symptoms of a cold.
'According to the HSE guidelines, you need to self isolate when you have the symptoms of a cold. So that's what we are doing,' she said.
She told viewers that she has contacted her GP and awaits testing in the coming days.
'I'm feeling quite well,' she said. 'We're just being cautious we're being careful and we're being compliant with the HSE guidelines because let's face it the last thing I want to do is put my colleagues at risk if I do happen to have the coronavirus, or indeed our guests.'
Her colleague Sarah McInerney was in the RTÉ studio with a panel of guests, including Minister for Health Simon Harris.
Mr Harris thanked Claire Byrne for leading by example and following public health advice.
'It's so important that people listen very carefully to the public health advice and if they show symptoms that they do self-isolate, stay at home, contact their GP, and be patient at what is a very busy time as we await testing,' he said.
