Greystones Cancer Support Centre is asking supporters to come up with new and innovative fundraising ideas, with the cancellation of the Daffodil Day coffee morning.
The Irish Cancer Society has taken the decision to cancel all Daffodil Day street collections and events that were scheduled for Friday, March 27, as a result of the coronavirus.
Greystones Cancer Support has also decided to cancel all classes at the centre for the moment.
'The situation with the Covid-19 virus is ever-evolving,' they said in a statement. We are acting in line with the HSE, in particular the advice for vulnerable groups.'
GCS has a number of future events planned and wish to put alternative plans in place in case they have to postpone anything further.
Scheduled events include the East Coast FM Coffee Morning on April 21, GCS town-wide walk on May 3 and the VHI Mini Marathon on May 31.
'If these events have to be cancelled or postponed we will contact everyone as soon as possible,' said a spokesperson for GCS. 'If they do need to be cancelled or postponed, we would need some new innovative fundraising ideas, so if anyone has any ideas that we could use, GCS would be extremely grateful.'
