A number of motorists were caught between 50km and 70km outside their lockdown limit over the weekend while visiting Glenamlure and were sent home by Gardai.
On Friday, Gardai encountered a number of vehicles breaking the Covid-19 travel restrictions as they headed to the scenic Baravore in Glenmalure.
A family from Tallaght were told to turn around and make the 60km trip back to Tallaght. Another family were ordered to return to Blanchardstown, which is 70km away, while a family from Carlow were also promptly sent home.
Two of the motorists got Fixed Charge Penalty Notices for road traffic related matters.
Wicklow Gardaí said: 'Please heed the restrictions. They have not been lifted. We were out over the weekend continuing to explain, educate and encourage compliance. We appreciate all the people who are complying.'
Wicklow RPU also stopped a car travelling at 117kmph in a 60kmph zone.
The vehicle was seized after it was discovered that its tax had expired last year.
