Baltinglass native Mark Caplice co-wrote the song which has been selected to represent Ireland in this year's Eurovision Competition.

Former Fair City and Britain's Got Talent star Ryan O'Shaughnessy will represent Ireland over in Lisbon in May, with singer-songwriter Mark Caplice one of the talents behind the song 'Together.'

Mark wrote the song, along with Ryan and Laura Elizabeth Hughes.

'No words can describe how I felt when I heard the song was selected. Myself, Ryan and Laura Elizabeth Hughes wrote this song a little over a year ago in The Nucleus in Dublin and we are beyond proud and excited that RTÉ have chosen it to represent our country.

'Ryan is honestly one of the most talented and beautiful humans I have ever met and I'm so glad he gets to perform it live in Portugal this May. We will be with him every step of the way.'

Mark, widely known by his nickname 'Cappy', performs as Kolumbas and claimed the number one spot on the Google Play Christmas charts in Ireland in 2015. His single 'You Know its Christmas' knocked Justin Bieber and Adele off the top spot and also raised proceeds from sales and downloads for the Inner City Helping Homeless and Baltinglass Lions Christmas appeal.
