Pupils attending Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as some of their favourite characters from books.

There were quite a few Harry Potter characters along with princesses, 'Gangsta Grannies', Mary Poppins characters and many more.

The creativity and colour was on display as each character strutted down the 'book character cat-walk' in the school hall.

Over the last 22 years, World Book Day has become firmly established as Ireland's biggest annual event promoting the enjoyment of books and reading.

Later, the school hosted a book quiz with children from first to sixth class in each team, answering such diverse questions as 'What colour is Peppa Pig?' to 'During what war was The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas set?' or 'Who wrote the book Holes?'

Congratulations to the winning team of Hannah Cullen, Alanna Fegan, Emily Mahon-Devitt, Conor Merrigan and Kaylyn Murnane.
