Ashford gears up for fair

Gun dog demonstrations, duck herding and a falconry demonstration will be just some of the activities taking place at the Ashford Country Fair taking place on the May bankholiday Monday.

Once again the Freeman family have given permission for the use of the Bel Air Hotel grounds for the event taking place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be two separate gun dog demonstrations, while you can also enter your own pooch in a dog show taking place from 11 a.m.. There will be a wide variety of classes catering for al shapes, sizes, colours and breeds.

There will be three separate duck herding demonstrations where you can watch highly trained and skilled dogs herd some waddling ducks into a pen.

A falconer will be present for some demonstrations ad there will be a wide selection of far animals safely housed in pens, including a donkey, calf, sheep, lambs, goats and hens.

There will be a demonstration from a local pony club and a vintage cars and tractors display. A wide range of stalls will feature Men's Shed, to jewellery, crafts, pottery, soaps, bric-a-brac, books, Tupperware, cakes, country produce and more.

Watch as spinners turn sheep fleeces into spun yarn, while a butter churning demonstration will take place as well. There will be a selection of fashionable clothing to purchase, as well as a variety of shrubs, flowers and vegetable plants.

Children's entertainment includes a magician and balloon modelling. Popcorn and candy floss will be available, along with a BBQ serving both meat and vegetarian dishes.

With a little bit of something for everyone, Ashford Country Fair only costs €5 per car to attend.
